This blog started years ago as a response to my eldest son's diagnosis of Aspergers. I am now reinventing it to share a part of our life as a family full of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnoses.

They aren't apple cores, one is an apple core and one is a pear.
On being told to clean up his room and put the apple cores in the bin, Aspie put the apple core in the bin. When challenged about the remaining core he replied ” It’s not an apple core it’s a pear.
Eew I can't eat that now!
When eating dinner Aspie’s brother got a little to close to Aspie’s plate.
“I can’t eat that now. He breathed on it! Yuck! What can I have now? I can’t eat that he breathed on it!”

Rigidity is frustrating
When we reminded Aspie that it was time to go to the gate to catch the bus he replied “I don’t go yet. It is only 7.39 on my watch and I don’t go to the bus until it says 7.40 on my watch”
I can't eat that!
Aspie took one look at dinner and declared
“I can’t eat that. You have put tomatoes in it. You know I don’t eat tomatoes in things. You put them in there on purpose. YOU KNOW I CAN’T EAT THEM LIKE THAT.
